Training and education: assess what people can do after the session

Business area: Training & Education
Choose a task participants need to perform differently, such as preparing a quotation or using a new system. Check the starting level with a short practical exercise. This helps distinguish a knowledge gap from a problem in tools, authority or the process itself.
Design the session around demonstration, guided practice and independent completion. Use realistic examples and a clear assessment standard. Give participants a job aid they can use at work, and prepare managers to support the new behavior.
Arrange a follow-up review using work samples or observed performance. Compare errors, completion quality and support needs with the baseline. Attendance and satisfaction are useful feedback, but they do not by themselves show that the skill is being applied.
