Physical product and packaging design: test use and delivery together

Business area: Product Design
Describe who will use the product, the environment and the task it must perform. For packaging, identify what it must protect, how it is opened and what information the user needs. Keep appearance goals alongside material, size and production constraints.
Use successive prototypes to answer different questions. A rough model can test grip or opening; a more representative sample can test assembly and packaging fit. Agree the test method, acceptance criteria and the person who records the result before ordering larger quantities.
Review manufacturing, shipping and end-user feedback together. A visual change may affect tooling, material use or damage rates. Record approved drawings, sample versions and ownership of design files, and obtain appropriate intellectual-property advice before public disclosure where needed.
