Global expansion: validate one market before multiplying commitments

Business area: Global Expansion Services
Select one initial market and a defined customer segment. The International Trade Administration recommends assessing market potential and conducting due diligence on partners. Treat export guidance as a research framework, then verify the rules applicable to the actual product and destination.
Prepare a market-entry brief covering customer demand, competitors, route to market, product requirements, delivery costs, payment terms and local support. Assign an owner and source to each unanswered question. Ask prospective customers and partners to test the assumptions with concrete examples.
Start with a bounded pilot and agree a review point before expanding. Track qualified demand, delivered cost, collection time and support burden. A pilot should reduce uncertainty about the business model rather than create an uncontrolled set of overseas commitments.
