Business strategy: choose the trade-offs behind the priorities

Business area: Business Strategy & Planning
Start with the customer problem, the current operating capability and the resources available. Gather evidence from sales, delivery and support teams. Distinguish a recurring customer need from an isolated request before making it a strategic priority.
Choose a small number of priorities and make the trade-offs explicit. For each, define the intended outcome, budget or capacity requirement, accountable owner and first test. Record which initiatives are postponed so the plan does not silently exceed the team’s capacity.
Review progress against evidence rather than activity volume. If the first test fails, revisit the assumption and decide whether to change direction, narrow the scope or stop. A strategy becomes useful when it guides actual allocation decisions.
